With a tailored recruiting approach, adidas was able to attract 50 highly specialized technical specialists in a very short time, despite competitive restrictions and an extremely limited applicant market.
Initial situation
adidas had to fill 50 highly specialized technical positions in a short space of time in order to secure innovation projects and remain competitive. The market was extremely tight: only around 170 people worldwide were eligible for the profiles sought. At the same time, competitors such as Nike, Lululemon and New Balance were also looking for the same specialists. Many candidateswere also bound by restrictive non-compete clauses. Traditional recruiting was not enough.
Proceed
Specialized recruiting team
Three experienced tech recruiters, each with over ten years of experience in international executive search, took over the entire process.
Global search for passive talent
The team mapped the global talent pool and approached suitable candidates who were not actively looking.
Targeted employer branding
adidas was positioned as an attractive tech employer via niche channels such as specialized platforms and a US tech radio show.
Legal solutions for quick changes
In close coordination with the adidas legal department, visa processes were managed and individual solutions for non-compete clauses and contractual issues were developed.
Results
All 50 positions were successfully filled within the set time frame of 6 months. The hires strengthened adidas' innovation and competitiveness in the long term. In addition, a talent pipeline was established for future technical recruitment.
