Nordex was looking for specialists and managers in a highly competitive job market for the development of its new "Concrete Towers" division.
By setting up new processes, national and international recruitment and close cooperation with partners, all positions were filled in a short space of time.
The wind turbine manufacturer Nordex was looking for new employees at various locations in Germany to set up its new "Concrete Towers" division. The company was looking for managers for wind farm and production management, as well as specialists for logistics, health and safety and quality assurance and employees in the industrial and technical area, where the shortage of skilled workers is particularly pronounced.
The new division was developed from scratch, with its own structures, processes and teams, comparable to a start-up within an established group. The challenge was to create the necessary organizational foundations in a short space of time.
The first step was to develop structures and processes in the HR department that met the requirements of the new division: from application processes to onboarding and long-term staff retention.
Recruitment then began at several production sites and wind farms throughout Germany. In close cooperation with institutions such as the Federal Employment Agency, the Federal Armed Forces Vocational Training Service and regional networks, skilled workers were also recruited from less-used talent pools.
Another focus was on international recruitment in order to attract skilled workers from abroad. To this end, targeted support structures were set up, for example for visa procedures, recognition of qualifications, relocation and administrative integration.
Within a year, qualified specialists and managers were recruited for Nordex - including employees from over 20 nations.
The structured development of the new business area and targeted collaboration with external partners enabled rapid scaling, despite the tight situation on the labor market. In a short space of time, it was possible to develop a sustainable foundation with functioning structures, suitable specialists and a strong, international team.
